Ford and Chevy’s parent General Motors got in a bit of a tiff over the apocalyptic “2012” ad featured in yesterday’s game, as we and anyone with half a brain knew they would. They sent a letter to GM, requesting the ad be pulled, which of course was declined since we all watched and enjoyed it.
If you recall, the spot showed several survivors of a world-ending apocalypse, all of them driving Chevy Silverado’s, only one of them didn’t make it because “he drove a Ford”. GM issued a statement saying “We can wait until the world ends, and if we need to, we will apologize. In the meantime, people who are really worried about the Mayan calendar coming true should buy a Silverado right away.” This stuff is gold.
