Even though the Green Bay Packers won’t be playing in Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2nd, 2014, their team and their town will still feature prominently in the game, at least for sixty seconds. Coca Cola’s Super Bowl commercial was largely shot in and is centered on the team’s home turf of Lambeau Field, and its protagonist is an aspiring young Packer.
The spot shows a diminutive young football player who gets his lucky break when a fumbled ball ends up in his stunned hands. Heeding the cheers of his teammates to go “All the way,” the young man (whose team happens to wear the same green and yellow colors as the Green Bay Packers) not only runs the ball downfield for a touchdown, but he keeps on going all the way across town and right onto the pitch at Lambeau Field! There a kind groundskeeper treats the victorious youth to – what else!? – a refreshing Coke!

The ad is charming and inspirational even though we think its production team could have used a more fitting song than House of Pain’s “Jump” (maybe “Chariots of Fire,” for example).
