The word “epic” is thrown around all too freely these days; indeed, it is at risk of becoming the next “awesome” (a term reduced to the status of a synonym for “cool” rather than speaking to “a thing of awe,” see?). But there is no other appropriate word for the feat pulled of by daredevil Felix Baumgartner on October 14th, 2012. And the Super Bowl commercial from camera company GoPro does homage to Baumgartner’s achievement by way of a simple, beautiful spot that merely shows it like it was.

What was “it,” you ask? Why just a skydiver jumping from twenty four miles up. Baumgartner’s record-shattering leap saw him reaching freefall speeds in excess of 840 miles per hour (yes, that is well past the speed of sound!) after he casually stepped off a platform hovering more than 120,000 feet in the air.

The GoPro Super Bowl commercial shows footage captured by several of their own cameras during this historic jump, giving you a chance to share the view Baumgartner enjoyed from near the edge of the atmosphere, from where we can see out into the darkness of space. In other words, it’s a spot worth watching.
