The Super Bowl XLVIII trailer for the new Michael Bay film “Transformers: Age of Extinction” actually turned out better than we expected. After the uninspired trailer for “The Amazing Spider Man 2” from earlier in the game, we had all but thrown in the towel on big movie previews.

But this trailer had better pacing than the Spider Man spot: it left us wanting to know what was going to happen in the movie, and isn’t the express purpose of a movie trailer? To make us interested in the film?

We’re not saying we’re going to go see “Transformers,” but we are saying that this was a fine example of a Super Bowl trailer.
