Well, this one came a surprise… it’s not every day that you see a religion marketing itself in front of more than a hundred million people, but that’s what the Church of Scientology just did during Super Bowl XLVIII.
First, let us say that we’re doing everything we can to stay objective here and not editorialize (we even wanted to put the word religion in quotation marks, but we didn’t). But in total candor… that was really weird, Scientology!
Don’t get us wrong, a Super Bowl commercial about any religion seems like an odd thing to us! We would have been just about as confused had we seen an ad promoting Lutheranism or Zoroastrianism, too.
