At least one company is doing things right this year! Mercedes-Benz is going to run a spot during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIX and they are running a full-court press (sorry, switching sports for the purpose of metaphor) to build up the excitement! The Mercedes Super Bowl commercial is titled “Big Race” and is apparently a comical spin on the work of Ancient Greek fable writer Aesop.

You know the classic story of the Tortoise and the Hare? If not, call your parents right now and demand to know why they raised you so poorly. Also, take a second to ask how they’re doing. Anyway, in the run-up to the “Big Race,” the automaker has produced some pretty excellent teasers. Like this charming debate, for example:

Even Mike and Mike from ESPN radio are in on the debate and they are amped up for the race. Mike is pulling for the Tortoise, but (the other) Mike is a Hare fan all the way. And who should appear on their popular broadcast? Why it’s none other than the competitors themselves!

Last we bring a bunny into the Tortoise vs. Hare debate. But before we get to this buxom blonde boasting a surprisingly detailed knowledge of lagomorphic anatomy, we just want to make one humble speculation: it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the Tortoise wins the race… with the aid of a Mercedes.
