CBS has upped the ante. By $500,000.00
During 2015’s Super Bowl XLIX (that’s 49…), NBC commanded the hefty sum of $4.5 million dollars for a thirty second ad. During 2016’s Super Bowl 50 (that… that’s 50), broadcaster CBS is demanding a cool five million bucks for a half minute of airtime.
Let’s break that down a more tangible way…
Five million bucks for a half minute of time means a price of $166,666.66 for each and every second. According to www.census.gov, the current median price of a residence in America is $296,900.
So for each 1.78 seconds of Super Bowl 50 commercial airtime, you could buy most of the homes currently on the market.
Madness… but you know the advertisers will still come running.
