Well, hi there, Nintendo! Welcome to Super Bowl 51, and in fact welcome to your first Super Bowl broadcast ever! Nintendo manages to pack plenty of information into their freshman Big Game ad, with the commercial introducing people to the new Nintendo Switch, a game system that can be played anywhere, anytime using a tablet-sized handheld device, and that can just as easily be connected to another piece of hardware for enjoyment on the screen of your full-sized TV.
The Nintendo Super Bowl ad also introduces us to a new entry in the vaunted video game series called The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind.
And finally, the Nintendo Super Bowl ad comes out at just the right time to pique interets (AKA “sales”) of the new system and games, as the Nintendo Switch is due to go on sale starting on March 3rd, less than one month after the Super Bowl LI broadcast.
Quick historical note: did you know that Nintendo has been around for more than 125 years? They started off manufacturing various playing cards, and only moved into electronics in the 1970s!
