You can see the jokes coming here from a mile away, but the Super Bowl LI Buick commercial is still an overall success. Sure, the second that peewee football player turns into Cam Newton, we know he’s going to launch a powerful pass that will knock a child over, and that’s what happens.

And when the coach says “If that’s a Buick, then I’m a supermodel,” you know damn well he’s about to turn into a supermodel (Miranda Kerr, as it turns out), but hey, it’s an innocent and amusing premise, and the ad sticks with it, which we can appreciate.

As for our feelings about the actual Buicks shown off in the carmaker’s 2017 Super Bowl commercial…. Well, we’re not necessarily quite so knocked off our feet as the characters in the ad.
