Doritos Kid Slaps Mom’s Date – Super Bowl 2010

Share

February 8, 2010

Okay, the slap cracked us up — you win Doritos, you win. We weren’t that impressed with the other two commercials, but this one is memorable, adorable, well-produced and genuinely funny. That’s one for the “amateur” filmmaker, and 0 for the ad agency.

and watch the slap in HD!

Doritos Kid Slaps Mom’s date was too cool. Love it.

To say the Who sucked is to give them way too much credit. I had to change the channel.

A commercial not only condoning a child committing battery but advocating as something “cute” and clever is heinous.

  8. What on February 8th, 2010 8:26 pm

    @K

It’s a fucking joke. Why don’t you reach really far up your ass and pull the stick out, and replace it with a bit of humor, you fucking pedant.

This was the funniest commercial of them all. I laughed all night

  10. sump on February 8th, 2010 11:53 pm

This was the best commercial of the night, hands down. It was the most entertaining event of the night, other than of course the game, GO SAINTS, Who Dat?

  11. Kare on February 9th, 2010 2:02 am

I loved the kid slapping his mom’s date, and protecting his Doritos.

OMG!!!! This Doritos commerical is the best I have seen in a long time…It was too funny, we are still laughing…GO SAINTS …WHO DAT!!!!!….( PUT IT BACK, CAUSE WE GOT IT THIS YEAR…)

This Doritos commercial was among the best of the Bowl. My girlfriend told me about it because I didn’t see it when it was aired. Today, I laughed out loud and nearly fell out of my chair. Excellent, funny and short and sweet. To the person trippin’ over violence–I agree–get a hold of yourself and learn to laugh and live a little.

Now we have kids bitch slapping adults, in commercials yet.

Had Doritos gone with a white family and suitor instead, would there have been a slap?

The boy could have said what he said without the slap.

This Doritos commercial with the kid was by far the funniest and I don’t understand why so many people are making a big deal out of the kid slapping the man in this commercial because I would rather laugh at this than everyone bending over backwards for beer and grown men walking around in the undergarments!

  18. TOOTA on February 9th, 2010 8:19 am

This Doritos commercial catches you off guard thats what makes it so funny.
Have a since of humor. Laugh a little it won’t hurt you!

Are black people the only Americans with single parent households?? Read between the lines.. Yeah I admit it was funny and I’m only playing the race card because it’s Black History Month; NOT!!! Some of the commercials were Male Chauvinistic,Male Dominant,Gay,Bigoted American points of view, but they’re funny..Am I being too sensitive, or is it that we’re blinded by the subliminal humor in these commercials and I’m one of the few people who was offended by this. White kids are protective of their mother’s too,but I don’t think either kids (Black,White ,Hispanic,Asian) would slap a suitor like that. I know we can’t expect a funny commercial to be politically correct, huh??

  20. Lori Ann on February 9th, 2010 10:18 am

The date was disrespecting the boy’s Mom! I do not think striking anyone is good…But you have to admit…if someone looked at your Mom like that with you in the room…they should be smacked.

:) Funny & Straight to the point. No big deal ppl :)

  22. carrie on February 9th, 2010 12:22 pm

Not cool on so many levels.

    To â– TONY MIHOVILOVICH,
You say the Who sucked. Your opinion shows your ignorance about all things musical…especially rock n roll. The drummer who you disrespect is Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr’s kid ( you remember Ringo who played with that little group from Liverpool) who has been the Who’s drummer since ‘95 or so. He has been the closest drummer to Keith Moon without actually trying to imitate him. He’s playing in a world famous band and you who are unknown to the world complain as if your opinion mattered.
    What a whiner.

The Who rocked. Remember this Tony as you go to your mundane 9-5 job (hopefully) and think about The Who playing to millions of people who love them.

  24. chiquita jones on February 9th, 2010 6:09 pm

I love the kid slapping the man and warning him not to touch his mom or his doritos!

  25. Tranque on February 10th, 2010 1:50 am

William Rogers – another ‘nobody’ with a useless opinion. ;) You said it yourself.
The WHO didn’t put on a great show. They’re old now, and live shows rarely live up to their groomed digital counterparts. It’s to be expected. They had/have talent, but that doesn’t mean their performances from a decade ago will carry into the present.
This commercial is cute. If no child from any race would be likely to do this, I don’t see what the big deal is about selecting a black child. The only power the issue of race has anymore is the power you give it; so stop looking at the color of someone’s skin, if you think it’s such a problem!

  26. James on February 10th, 2010 2:50 am

I think the commercial went too far with the slap. Millions of kids were watching this and getting the message it’s okay to use violence and disrespect adults. But that’s just me.

  27. kevin on February 10th, 2010 10:12 am

the kid protecting his mom & doritos was far the funniest superbowl commercial i thnext daylaugh so hard and it was conservation piece at work

  28. Ben Dover on February 10th, 2010 11:04 am

HAHAHAH.. I’M TELLIN YOU … DORITOS KICKED BUTT THIS YEAR WITH THEIR COMMERCIALS… THIS WAS FUNNY AS HECK.

  29. Sire on February 10th, 2010 1:30 pm

The commercials are meant to be funny, but there is a line that needs to be drawn when kids are watching a program. Superbowl commercials have always been out there when dealing with race, gender, and sexuality; so should we not allow are kids to watch the Superbowl anymore?? The choice is yours. You say race is not an issue because you never had to deal with it until someone pulls a race card.. Just because the President is black doesn’t mean that race relations in America are much different than they were years ago; or are you blind to that fact too?? I’ll stop looking at color when Hollywood, the Media, and everyone else in America does.

  30. Dubba on February 12th, 2010 12:12 pm

    That kid has some ATTITUDE!

  31. patricia plump on April 17th, 2010 1:39 am

I think the commerical is hilarious! But I can see it as being offensive. As an African American, the commercial is very ethnic and that type of situation does occur with the mother being disrespected and her child’s food being eaten.
You must have a sense of humor to appreciate it!
