Pizza Hut To Air Their First Super Bowl Ad

We know, this isn’t the most exciting news ever, but there is a little bit to this story.

So Pizza Hut typically only advertises before the big game, apparently to give the viewers time to order for halftime. That and they avoid the reported $3 million price tag a 30-second slot is going for. For the 2011 game they are actually airing a spot during the first half of the game. The odd thing is that Taco Bell, a stalwart Super Bowl advertiser owned by the same parent company Yum Brands, has not yet announced any intentions to advertise during the game.

What does this all mean? It means that instead of a terrible commercial for terrible not-Mexican food, you get a (most likely) terrible spot about something that can only qualify as pizza because it’s round. Their goal with this spot is to “focus on the Pizza Hut brand and the role it plays in consumers’ lives ‘beyond the game and throughout the year’”.

Oh god, that sounds so boring.

PETA And CareerBuilder In A Spat Over Super Bowl Spot

So it’s widely regarded as totally and unambiguously TRUE that CareerBuilder.com has the best Super Bowl commercials ever, at least before they dropped the chimps.

Well it looks like the chimps maybe coming back, and PETA is pissed about it.

PETA somehow caught wind of CareerBuilder using their single 30-second slot to bring back the apes, and has urged their members to start an email campaign against the company’s CEO.

Friends, this travesty cannot stand. People and chimpanzees alike are out of work in this economy, and to have PETA preaching to chimps about what work they should or should not be allowed to do is simply unacceptable. Our ancestral cousins have rights too, and if they want to do a hilarious spot for a dying dot-com then by god, they should have that right.

So we are urging everyone to start an email campaign against PETA, to tell them to mind their own beeswax and just change the channel if they don’t want to see the commercial.

Super Bowl 2011 Musical Act – Black Eyed Peas!

We know, that exclamation point is really pushing the boundaries of believability. Seriously, Black Eyed Peas? It sounds like they’re trying to get closer to the cutting edge than they have in past years with The Boss and Tom Petty, but the Black Eyed Peas is still pretty far from the mark.

They’re probably trying to appeal to the broadest demographic of their viewership possible, meaning the Black Eyed Peas have little chance of offending anyone between the Rockies and the Appalachians. Unless of course they kick off the party with “My Humps”, which would actually be pretty damn awesome.

Sorry Black Eyed Peas, you’re most definitely mainstream now.
