Thanks to some Facebook sleuthing and puzzle-solving, Audi’s 60-second Super Bowl ad has been pieced together and put up on their official YouTube page. If you like classic emo and Twilight, with a funny twist at the end, you should love this ad as much as we do.

Top 5 Super Bowl Car Commercials

Along with beer and, for the past several years, Doritos, the Super Bowl ads feature a huge proportion of car commercials. Men, alcohol, testosterone, cars, it’s clearly a winning combination as far as Madison Avenue is concerned. While Bud Light commercials get all the glory, there have been several memorable car commercials over the years that deserve a second look.

The Best Super Bowl Ads Of The Past Ten Years

The Super Bowl enjoys a unique place in American television: when the commercials come on, people actually start paying more attention to the broadcast. Each ad slot is the most expensive and most-watched 30 seconds of television in the world (and let’s face it, probably the universe). Some companies pour their heart, soul, and several million dollars into 30 little seconds of time that might make or break their sales for the year.

The past ten years have been remarkable in terms of political, social, and technological change, and the Super Bowl ads reflect that. Let’s take a walk down memory lane at the past ten years of Super Bowl commercial history.

Audi & Hyundai Betting Big On Super Bowl XLVI

Both Audi and Hyundai, two automakers with wildly differing past Super Bowl commercial strategies, are once again making big ad pushes in the big game next February 2012. For Audi this (hopefully) represents a continued trend of memorable, creative commercials that has extended back for the past five games. For Hyundai it’s (hopefully) an attempt to gain more recognition in the North American market after the 2011 Super Bowl’s run of boring, strange, and downright off-putting ads.

Audi – 2011- Release The Hounds

Audi shows off a sixty-second masterpiece with their companion ad to Goodnight from the playoffs. Rich bastards try and escape some fancy prison, but the Audi is the only way out. Whee!

What this commercial actually demonstrates is that white people can consider luxury to somehow be a form of imprisonment that requires escaping from, and that even a Mercedes can’t grant you relief from your pain. Yeeeeaaaaah, okay…

Audi Introduces Companion Ad To Super Bowl Spot

Audi today launched an ad that will run now as a companion to their A8 commercial, airing during the Super Bowl itself. The companion ad, called “Goodnight”, begins airing on cable networks now and will run on the networks during the playoff games this weekend.

This particular piece is  patterned after the popular and classic “Goodnight Moon” book that almost everyone remembers from their childhood. Since Audi is trying to redefine luxury, they’re saying “goodnight” to the gaudy trappings of wealth.

Since the Audi A8 base model starts at an MSRP of $78,050, we’re not sure if they really succeeded in redefining luxury, but it’s a cool commercial nonetheless! Check it out in standard def and HD below.

Audi – 2008 – The Godfather

Audi is your go-to getaway car if you’re a stylish stickman who needs a car that can really shove. The R8 is also apparently a homicidal maniac with a thirst for oil. We give the Audi ad team credit for returning Alex Rocco to his Godfather roots.

2009 Audi – Chase

A car chase featuring an Audi. Attention baddies – you must get an Audi if you’re to escape the long arm of the law.
