Doritos Crash The Super Bowl 2013 is bigger this year than ever before, with the grand prize winner taking home a million dollars, plus a chance to co-direct a scene or two in Michael Bay’s next terrible movie!

There is an interesting clause in the Crash FAQ page, however, about the million dollar prize money: Five finalists will win $25,000 and a chance to attend a private Doritos Super Bowl party. Two will have their commercials air at the actual big event. The best ad will only win a million dollars if it ranks first in the USA Today Ad Rankings… but whoever’s submission ranks highest in the ad rankings is guaranteed the chance to stand beside Michael Bay (and/or his associates) on the set of the next Transformers.

“There is no monetary value associated with the Grand Prize, however, in the event that any Grand Prize winner’s commercial is awarded one of the top 3 spots (including ties) according to the USA TODAY Ad Meter rankings, that Grand Prize Winner will receive a bonus of $1,000,000 for the #1 spot, $600,000 for the #2 spot OR $400,000 for the #3 spot. In addition, the Grand Prize winner whose submission scored higher on the USA TODAY AD METER will be offered an opportunity to work with movie director/producer Michael Bay and/or his associates on the next next TransformersTM movie”

That is a major asterisk…

Michael Bay hasn’t made a good movie since Bad Boys in 1995. Perhaps this is exactly what he needs to put his career back on track.

For reference, here are last year’s Crash winners (both of whom won a million dollars):

And here’s a great Doritos commercial that didn’t make the cut:

Good luck to all of this year’s submissions.
