To be honest, we haven’t really been big fans of a lot of past Lexus Super Bowl commercials. There was last year’s ad from Super Bowl LI starring Sia that featured great dancing, but didn’t really work as a car commercial:
And a couple years before that, the Super Bowl XLIX Lexus Super Bowl ad also featured some dancing and some parking garage stunt driving. It was pretty much a fizzle:
The Super Bowl LII Lexus ad is a crossover between the carmaker and Marvel Studios, which is behind the upcoming Black Panther feature. There are some decent shots of the car, and some scenes of the super hero punching and kicking people and running around, but frankly this ad doesn’t really inspire one to see the movie or buy the car.
Oh well, there’s always next year.
