In the Super Bowl LII M&M’s Super Bowl commercial, the long-suffering Red M&M — suffering because, y’know, people try to eat him all the time — is magically transformed into beloved actor Danny DeBVito, who stands a few inches taller than a standard M&M but who, being human, is not at threat of people trying to eat him.

The Super Bowl LII M&M’s commercial features two basic gags, one in which DeVito asks people if the want to eat him, and another in which he is hit by a truck. They are pretty simple, on-the-nose jokes, but the ad works thanks to the septuagenarian actor’s verve and commitment.

Also, with a brand like M&M’s where everyone watching already knows what the stuff is, you might as well just enjoy a joke or two.
