Sprint’s 2018 Super Bowl Commercial features an android named Evelyn who has figured out two of the essential things all of us need to be our most human: we like to save money and we like to laugh at the expense of others.
The ad shows Evelyn practicing playing chess while her creator paces about dictating results of his work. The robot does some calculations and realized the scientist is paying way more than he should be for wireless services given the great rates offered by Sprint.
Then a bunch of robots laugh at the scientist, shaming him into switching from Verizon to Sprint.
The premise works fine, and then is driven home by the appearance of Verizon’s former “Can you hear me now” guy, who is now a spokesman for Sprint. We still wonder how much he got paid to make that jump…
